Member of Parliament for Beckenham, Bob Stewart, has written to Network Rail Requesting an update on the works to replace the footbridge which connects platforms 1&2 with 3&4. The bridge was closed, and the floor removed in February.
A number of constituents raised the issue with Bob via social media and by taking part in his local train survey. Bob had been working with London Assembly Member Peter Fortune on this issue. Now, along with Peter and Beckenham Councillor Michael Tickner, Bob has written to Network Rail to ask for an update and for notices at the station to be updated. The letter also requests that Network Rail organise a meeting for local elected representatives to be briefed on the work and reason for delay so this can be fed back to residents.
Bob said:
“Thank you to everyone who has raised this issue with me. Peter Fortune has been chasing this issue for some months now and I’m pleased to be able to support him and Michael in this. Network Rail need to get more information out into the public domain about the cause of delay and timetable for completion of the work. This work was meant to be complete in April and it is nearly November now. I will continue to work with Peter and Michael to get answers on this.”
