On Tuesday 20 March I attended a meeting about people living with arthritis. The event coincided with the launch of Arthritis Research UK’s new ‘Ask Us’ campaign, which encourages those living with arthritis to contact the charity and get their assistance.
To be honest I was shocked to learn that in my Beckenham constituency, 5,404 people aged over 45 live with osteoarthritis of the knee, 3,316 people aged over 45 live with osteoarthritis of the hip, and 11,350 live with back pain. I gather many people locally are living with such daily pain, fatigue, and isolation. This is unacceptable and so I will do all I can to help them and am now what is called an ‘Arthritis Champion’. I want to see all those suffering from arthritis get the very best help they can to deal with what can be crippling agony.
At the meeting I was photographed with Megan Vine who campaigns for Arthritis Research and lives near me.
