Bob Stewart MP has today welcomed the Government's announcement on amendments to proposed changes to Housing Benefit.
The change will mean that armed forces personnel, who choose to live at home with their parents, will not lose Housing Benefit whilst their bedroom is empty when they are away serving their country.
From the 1st of April 2013 the Government will introduce a reduction in Housing Benefit for those who are receiving benefit for spare rooms in the social rented sector.
Bob said: "I'm delighted by this announcement. The Government should rightly do all it can to assist our armed forces and their families in these tough economic times."
